Showroom - The technology of tomorrow
At the end of their trip through 5,000 years of technological and cultural history, many visitors to the HNF have the following questions on the tips of their tongues: "What will happen next?", "Which technological developments are possible or inevitable?", or "What are the associated opportunities and risks?".
In response to such queries, the HNF has decided to set up a showroom for the presentation of topical and even just envisaged technical solutions, with the aim of demonstrating important IT trends and visions to its interested visitors. The showroom, which occupies around 70 square metres of floorspace, is integrated in the new exhibition landscape and has been established with the express intention of showing how the convergence of information technologies leads to new application combinations and hence to the development of new products.
While the mobile terminal takes centre stage in the "Digital World" exhibition, the showroom will present complex IT scenarios from the fields of office, household, vehicle, leisure and health applications, among others. It is set to demonstrate the networking of information technology from all spheres of life: From the "Wearables" in clothing and jewellery via the multimedia bed all the way to the intelligent kitchen on the one hand, and from the mobile Standby Office via telematic devices all the way to the Personal Shopping Assistant on the other.
In future, in its courses and workshops the HNF Business Forum will also be presiding over the testing and assessment of products and applications provided by leading manufacturers and research establishments. The showroom will thus form an important link between the HNF Museum and the Forum in terms of content.
A glimpse into the future should not only generate a fascination for new products and applications among our visitors, but should also help to make them more critically aware of the application benefits of and the economical use of information technology.
