Software theatre - virtual reality programmes
In this unique facility, visitors experience impressive virtual realities. The software theatre enables a look at current research and applications. Up to 28 people at once can discover how virtual realities are used in today’s science to increase the pace of various developments and make them easier to picture.
Here visitors are not just viewers, they themselves can also navigate through artificial three-dimensional rooms in real time. The programme in the software theatre is constantly updated. At the moment you can take in the following performances:
Boeing 777: This presentation shows the construction and inside of a modern commercial aircraft. You can see how the wings are built and where the luggage is stowed.
Tumour diagnostics: Virtual computer tomography and a PET (positron emission tomography) scan of Mr. K. show that he has heart problems and a tumour.
Virtual night drive: Take off on a night drive across the northern loop of the Nürburgring race track or through the Eifel and see how the different headlamp systems illuminate the street and surroundings.
This special theatre is looked after by the Heinz Nixdorf Institute of the University of Paderborn.
If you would like to visit the software theatre as a group, please let us know when you book your tour. Single visitors are generally admitted to the software theatre every half hour.
